Web Survey Bibliography
In this contribution we present data collected in the "Kid's Experimental Psychology Lab" (http://www.genpsy.unizh.ch/forschung/kidslab/labone.html). This virtual laboratory at the University of Zürich focuses especially on children and adolescents and serves as a platform for online studies in developmental psychology. Data from such online studies are presented and compared to data that were gathered offline. Additionally, analyses of the visitor logfiles from the virtual laboratory give an impression of the usage of such a platform. By means of collected data, offline observations of the children’s behavior, and findings from earlier studies (see Reips, GOR'99: http://dgof.de/tband99/), we will discuss how research in developmental psychology can be conducted online. Several questions have to be considered: How do children behave at the computer or in the Internet? What arouses their interest and how can they be motivated? What can be done to ensure data quality? Which ethical and legal aspects have to be considered?
